Our New Home: The Master Bathroom

LA mom and style blogger, RELish By Arielle shares a sneak peek into her family's new home in Burbank, CA

It's been nearly two months since we've been back in our new home after the extensive smoke damage we had this spring (more here). At first, we were incredibly overwhelmed because all of our belongings were either deemed a total loss by our insurance company OR they were returned to us in so many unorganized boxes, we didn't know where to begin. But I'm excited to report that we've officially unpacked every single box and now, we're deep in the throws of organizing, decorating and making our house into a home.

Today, I'm beyond excited to FINALLY start a new blog series called "Our New Home" where I'll be taking you on a home tour. Each post will be dedicated to a new room and how it looks now--before we finish decorating. That way, you'll be able to follow along with our ongoing design process.Today, I'm kicking off the series by sharing snapshots of our master bathroom--one of my favorite spaces in our home. I wish I could say that we designed it ourselves but truthfully, it was our previous owners that nailed it on this space.

Our New Home: The Background

Our new home is located in Burbank, California and it was built in 1940. It's a 3 bed, 2 bath and there is a large detached garage in our backyard that I have big hopes and dreams of renovating someday. Speaking of our backyard, I can't wait to share more photos of our giant lemon tree with you. I recently shared some shots here and here but since this is such a big focal point in our yard, there will be more to come for sure.Since we bought this home, I've been enamored with learning all about its history. I love all things old Hollywood so naturally, the fact that this home was built so close to the studios such actresses as Marilyn Monroe, Debbie Reynolds, Audrey Hepburn, and Judy Garland acted in lights me up.I learned that a family with five kids initially grew up in this house (granted, I'm not sure how they could possibly fit!). Their names are actually etched into a concrete slab in our backyard that we'll definitely be keeping. When we moved in, our neighbors gifted us a photo of our home from the 50's and there was the cutest red old Hollywood vintage truck in the driveway. From the history to the energy of this home, if you can't tell, I'm just so insanely grateful it's ours. The housing market when we were looking was horrendous and I thought we were going to end up in a total tear-down.The front section of our home has the original hardwood floors still in tact.  The ceilings are rounded with beautiful crown molding details. Then, the previous owners added on a beautiful addition to the home which seamlessly feel more modern without ruining the home's historical integrity.

The Master Bathroom Details

The walls of our master bathroom are covered in white subway tile from floor to ceiling. I love that the entire room is clean and white, except for a pop of black in the white and black vintage-inspired hex tiled floor. There is a "his" and "hers" vintage-inspired sink with silver accents. Our vanity mirrors are built into the walls to provide extra depth for storage. This design helps us to declutter and keep our toiletries nice and clean.

The bathroom's light fixtures and sink are also vintage-inspired but I love that they still feel clean and modern. We also have a marble-inspired thin ledge above our sinks which is clean and chic in my opinion. We have large clawfoot tub which I can't get enough of, as well as a modern shower with custom glass around it.  This combo is perfect for our family--and especially for the kids (who have definitely claimed this bath as their own). I also love the extra large cut-out ledge within our shower wall for soap, as well as the shower seat.
